Call

The Action alliance for Inclusion calls for a rally: “Shape the future barrier-free!”

Welcome are all who stand up for inclusion, diversity and the equal value of all people. We want to show: Inclusion is for everyone!

Categories for people are not natural conditions. The state and the market, divide us into categories so that we learn to live separately instead of together, while most other people think: Only an efficient person is a valuable part of the community. To these people, who think only of productivity and performance, we don’t matter. We do not conform to many of society’s stereotypes, are thus unwanted and excluded. By being excluded, we can also be controlled more easily. We will not allow this! We are not superfluous for a society that does not think about us and does not do anything for us. We will not be silent, we will fight for our inclusion, together with other movements like climate action, feminism, LGBTQIA+, unions and some more. For a diverse world where people can thrive freely, without barriers and fear!

Therefore, we will protest together on the 5.5. at 4 p.m. at Bismarckplatz demanding:

Accessibility for bus and train by 2022!

There is a law that regulates the accessibility of buses, trains and bus stops (Personenbeförderungsgesetz §8). This states: by 2022, buses and trains should be universally accessible.

But there are problems: Buses and trains are obviously not yet completely barrier-free.

Why?

Because a law has been passed, but no additional funding or personnel are being provided. The legal goals simply cannot be achieved because of a lack of funds and personnel.

We are only demanding what we were promised: Refurbishment of buses and trains to be barrier-free by 2022!

Accessibility and monument protection go hand in hand!

Heidelberg has a beautiful old town with many historic buildings. In order for everyone to enjoy Heidelberg, the old town must become barrier-free! It is often claimed that accessibility is not possible because the cobblestones or old buildings are protected monuments. Historic preservation beats accessibility? Not with us!

We demand: Don’t play off historic preservation against accessibility – for a Heidelberg where everyone is welcome!

A barrier-free queer center in Heidelberg!

We made it to Heidelberg despite barriers on the train and despite the cobblestones. But where to now? It’s hard to find accessible spaces where inclusive togetherness is a bit more selfevident.

That’s why we join the call for an accessible queer center.
