Why a rally?
People passionate about inclusion are organizing a rally.
Many people meet on the street.
They fight for their rights.
They speak their mind. And they talk to politicians.
The theme of our rally is:
“Shaping a barrier-free future!” Politicians should think about accessibility.
We want to show: In-clusion is for everyone!
Do you think inclusion is important? Then come to our rally!
All people should have the same rights. Do you think so too? Then come to our rally!
All people are valuable and important. Is that also your opinion? Then come to our rally!
In Germany there is a lot of in-justice.
For example, people are divided into disabled and non-disabled.
And disabled people are treated differently.
They often go to different schools. They work in separate workshops. They live in apartments only for disabled people.
They live separately from non-disabled people.
And they are often taught: You are worth less than others. You are not important.
Many people think: I am only valuable if I work a lot. I am only valuable if I am successful.
That is “ex-clusion.”
But we want “in-clusion.”
We want to live together. And work together.
We can’t help it.
Disabled people are excluded by society.
“Society” are most of the people in a country.
They have a lot of power and a lot of rights. They can decide and deal with a lot of things.
We want to change things!
We are important for society!
Society forgets us.
This is not good.
We will talk. We will fight for our rights. And for inclusion.
Fighting alone is hard. And it is exhausting.
That’s why we fight together.
Together with other disabled people.
Together with non-disabled people.
Together with men, women, children.
Together with queer* people.
Together with people who fight for the climate.
Together with people who are poor.
Together with people who have bad jobs.
Together with black people.
We want a beautiful world.
We want everyone to feel good.
We want no one to be afraid.
And we want everyone to feel free.
That’s why we’re protesting together. On the 5.5. at 4 p.m. on the Bismarckplatz!
This is what we want:
Accessible bus and train by 2022!
There is a German law. It regulates the accessibility of buses, trains and stops.
A law is a strict rule in a country or in a city.
It says: Until 2022 bus and train must be barrier-free.
This means that all people can board buses and trains. Even people in wheelchairs and blind people.
But there are problems: Buses and trains are not yet barrier-free.
Why?
The law exists.
But there is a lack of money.
And there are not enough people to rebuild the bus stops and drive the buses.
That is the job of the city of Heidelberg and the German government.
A law is important.
We want the city of Heidelberg to take it seriously!
We want the conversion of buses and trains by 2022! The year 2022 has already passed. Therefore, it is important that the city of Heidelberg acts very quickly.
Accessibility in spite of monument protection!
Monument protection is the protection of very old and very beautiful houses, churches and other buildings.
Heidelberg has a beautiful old town. There are many very old houses.
These are protected.
This means that they may not simply be rebuilt or demolished.
The pavement is also protected because it is very old.
Cobblestone pavement is the ground with many stones in the shape of cubes.
Cobblestone pavement is not barrier-free.
Many people cannot move on it. For example, blind people. People in wheelchairs. People with rollator.
The old town must become barrier-free!
We want everyone to be able to walk in the Old Town.
A strip of smooth material can be built on the floor. People with wheelchairs can walk on it.
There are also many houses that are not barrier-free.
For example, they have stairs. A person in a wheelchair cannot go up stairs.
Many buildings lack elevators.
We want that to change. We want a Heidelberg for all!
A barrier-free, queer* center in Heidelberg!
There are few barrier-free spaces.
We need barrier-free spaces. We want to feel good and safe there.
We want to meet nice people there.
Heidelberg is missing a barrier-free, queer space.
A space where all people can go.
Queer people should feel good and safe there.

Many people think:
There are only 2 genders, men and women.
Only men and women can fall in love with each other.
But:
Many people feel differently. They don’t feel the way most people feel.
They say: we are queer.
